If you have complaints about your school system who do you contact?( this mostly has to do with the HS )?

I still resent some of the school’s actions the end of my 2 senior years. I don’t want to have to think that someone else would go through what I did, so I want to know who to contact to get change started. What happened was: I was not allowed to “walk” with the rest of my senior class on graduation day 2003 because, get this: I DIDN’T HAVE ENOUGH CREDITS. Thats right wether or not a student can walk with their classmates in cap and gown, despite not recieving their diploma that day, depends on CREDITS. I have never heard anything so stupid in my life, have you? ALSO, along with that- There are no..rules, about students with exstenuating circumstances- I believe I should have been allowed to graduate WITH my class, regardless of how many credits shy I was ( 7). I had viable reasons for being behind, and I believe I should have been excused of those credits and allowed graduation with my class. The other problem I have is, when I DID graduate, the school completely ignored it.

You can write a letter to your local school board, and ask to speak at the next school board meeting.

It would be good to have an alternate plan to present to the Board when you speak to them. Let them know what should have been done in your case, and all the others who are short credits needed to graduate.

Give the Board some options to use when there are extenuating circumstances. Waiving the requirement is one idea, but also detail ways that students could make up missing credits before graduation day.

You can also contact the school administration office, or district office, and ask if there are other ways to present your complaint, and your alternate plan. Your district may have a student-parent grievance board. One of your complaints is that the school ignored your graduation. When you contact the grievance board, let them know what should have happened, but didn’t.

You are assessing your past experience and using it as motivation to help others. You have graduated, and have your life ahead of you. Keep your goals clear, and continue to emphasize the positive! Good luck.
