What college decision should I make? Need some helpful advice!?

hey,

This is my third semester (beginning of sophomore year in college) in college at a community college. My major is pre-med and so far everything is going well. My original plan was to transfer to UC Davis after 2 years at the community college. I am on schedule to transfer after 2 years but I will probably be a little bit behind the other Davis students ( about 2 classes: last semester of organic chemistry). I am also in a pre-med club called AMSA which i participate in at my college. If I stay at the college for 2.5-3 years, I will be able to get a position in the club which will help my resume (leadership qualities), while being able to complete all my classes before I take the MCAT. I can transfer to Davis after 2.5-3 years and begin the upper division classes. Some people tell me to stay an extra year while some tell me to transfer event though im a little behind. Not sure on what is best for me.

Please give me some advices so i can make my decision! thanks a lot! -Do

Medicine is a very long road, and it’s important not to waste precious time during the early years. You don’t want to rush, but at the same time you don’t want to dilly-dally with time. During the first year, try to take calculus, chemistry, and first semester of biology. During the second year, take the second semester of biology along with organic chemistry. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to do all this in two years. And then you can transfer right away to UC-Davis after two years and complete physics along with upper-level classes and be able to graduate in four years. Good luck!
