Im really stressed out….?

Sigh..Im super stressed. Ok heres my issue. I want to become someone important in life, and I’m currently in college. However, I also need to pay my bills and everything too, including the one for college. I work 40 hours a week (FT) and I go to school for 15.5 credit hours a week (FT). Full time at both. Im starting to fall behind in school too, and I really dont want to. My sisters never did anything with their lives as they both dropped out of high school. I dont want to be unsucessful for the rest of my life. How can I survive such rigors that Im dealing with right now?

Hi. I would recommend you taking a brief moment to think to yourself… what am I doing? It is not impossible to work full time and be a student full time…BUT, it is highly likely that you will suffer from one or the other sooner or later. Full time is usually 12 unit. (quality is better than quantitiy). Take courses that are a must for you to proceed and coursed that will fulfill towards your major. If you are a student full time, I recommend you only working part time. I realize that balancing financial obligations can be very stressful. However, you do have options that will help you succeed and not feel overwhelmed. The first thing to do is rationalize how much time you can set aside while working. If you are hitting the snooze and picking up shifts, your not ready for a full load.

PS… have you considered an on campus job? I know that pay isn’t great, but most do start off at $10. If you work part time, that is still $800 a week. If your financial situation requires an income greater than this around the rest of your personal budget, consider making life arrangments. Do you live at home? If not, maybe you should move back for a year to help catch up financially. Or roomate? that would cut your rent in half…. In the end, if you want to do something in life that YOU love, you have to invest the time. Yes, suffer a little bit financially now, BUT…when you graduate and get that great paying job… you know you did something right 🙂 Im a pre-med student and can sympathize but don’t set yourself up to fall, you can DO it, you just have to do it the right way and to do this, you need to ask yourself what your priorities are…

Good Luck.

I think the main thing with college and/or work is time management. Try to make a to do list and use a calendar to keep up with due dates and deadlines for projects. I worked full time and was in school full time while in graduate school and I know how difficult the juggle is. Know that this struggle now is temporary and that as the cliche` goes anything worth having is worth working hard for…stay in school and get that degree. THINK POSITIVE AND POSITIVE THINGS WILL COME TO YOU!!!
