how much will i get paid?
Favorite Answer
If there is no lunch break, 8-1 is 5 hours, so 5 X $6.50 = $30.50 per day X 2 days = $61.00
As a rough rule of thumb…take away about 20% (some folks use 25%) for taxes.
So multiply $61 x 0.20 to get $12.20; subtract $12.20 from $61 and you get to take home $48.80
If you use 25%, multiply $61 X 0.25 and finish the calculation following the example above.
If you want to really think this out, deduct the cost of gas or transportation to and from work to see what you really have as earnings from this job. And if there are uniforms, are they provided by ihop or do you pay for them? If yes, then deduct that from you take home pay. Do you have to pay to clean them? If yes, deduct that, too.
Overall, its not easy to get by on a minimum wage. So study hard or work at preparing yourself for a better paying job. And if possible, consider trying to find a job aligned with your major so you can gain practical experience in your field BEFORE your graduate. For most new graduates, the killer question in the job interview is “So what kind of experience do you have?”
Hope this helps. Best wishes in your endeavors.
