If I want to become a teacher in the state of Washinton what will i need to do in college?

What kind of Degree’s or Certificates or what will i need.

Depending on what i want to teach will i have to major in that specificly?? This whole college concept confuses me with all of the, “well u need to major in this, but u need a degree in that, and then u’ll need a cert. too.” yeah, how do i do all that? Please someone help explain this to me.

Do you want to teach high school or elementary? That does make a difference. Elementary Education is a major unto itself in most states. I cannot speak directly about the Washington requirements. If you want to teach high school you need to have a subject area, like English or Science and major in that field with education, like English Ed. or math ed. Certification comes from the state Office of Public Instruction. In some states the degree is enough, you usually have to have specific classes and a few states may still require a test of some sort for certification. Talk to the admissions counselor at the college where you are thinking of attending and/or your high school counselor. They will help you get this straight.
