The GRE was a snap for me, but I needed to buy some math review books, since I forgot a lot of old math stuff from high school. If you buy one of the Barrons or Kaplans (or Princeton Review) guides you can get practice tests that help you sharpen up. I did not take GMAT, so I don’t know what that would involve.

It depends on what you’re aiming for. I took the GRE because it was required for my graduate program, and from all the stories I heard, it was not as bad as the GMAT was.
The best way to prepare is to take lots of practice tests, so you get used to the format. If you haven’t taken math in awhile, buy a book and brush up. If your vocab isn’t that great, buy one of the vocabulary books. That’s all I did, and I scored well.

What sort of grad degree do you want?
The GMAT is easier, for sure. It’s only for B-school, though.

As for preparation, just go to the bookstore and get a prep book you like. There are classes (which I’m sure are good), but they are expensive.
