A pediatrician is someone who is a medical doctor (4 yrs. medical school; one year internship; two year residency;) with a specialization in pediatrics (4-8 yrs. specialty) after a 4 yrs. college degree. Undergraduate work includes courses in biology, anatomy and physiology, math through calculus, organic and inorganic chemistry, language, and basic education courses.
Also, a medical doctor takes state boards and must receive a passing grade to practice medicine in the state where s/he resides.
