How many pages, or what word count, should your Master’s thesis have?

I cannot find an adequate answer from my University, and asking fellow grad students gets me so many various answers, that I am left unsure. I just need to know what kind of word count or page count I need.

Master’s theses differ thanks in part to the subject material being discussed. I’ve seen Master’s theses that range from as small as 10 pages to as long as 400 pages. The most important thing about a Master’s thesis is that you don’t bulls#it your content. The committee that will overview your Master’s thesis looks for BS, and they will grill you if they find any. Better to have a concise, succinct factual thesis rather than a thesis with embellishments, exaggerations, and filler. Overall, the length depends on the subject, the topic, and the relevance to modern day studies. Good luck!

Usually between 50 to 80 pages. I am doing one that is already in the range of 15 and I just started it. believe me, they give you two semesters to finish it. It is more than plenty of time to do at least the bare minimal.

I would probably talk to your advisor and just ask what the average is. I am sure it varies from subject to subject but somebody out there will be willing to help you. The thing is that while it does not to be somewhat lengthy, the important part is to remember substance over length. Don’t make it wordy…make it useful and concise.
