Can I major in education, while going to school to become an anesthesiologist.?

Right now I’m in high school and dual enrollement. SO next year I should graduate from high school with my AA degree. I’m just not sure where to go from there. I need help and I would very much appreciate the help.

You need to speak to an advisor at the school you are going to attend.

Why would you want to major in education if you are going to school to be an anesthesiologist? I don’t know that getting a degree in education would help you at all in your career, and it would just cost you more money, and most likely make you graduate later than if you didnt pursue it. If you are thinking you might want to be an anesthesiologist professor someday, you will not need a degree in education-you will folllow a masters and eventually doctorate program in anesthesiology and research, a undergraduate degree in education won’t do you any good. However-if you are simply interested in the education field, you might ask about getting a minor in education-every degree that I know of makes you have a minor-this means it is a second, smaller area of study-you only need 18 hours in the specific area of study instead of 36 hours ( a difference of 6 classes versus 12). So ask your advisor about minoring in education. Hope some of this helped!

Good luck!!!

Anesthesiologists are medical doctors, so you need to concentrate on getting into and through medical school. Your undergraduate degree can be in ANYTHING, including education, as long as you take the pre-requisite science courses.

Only after you finish medical school will you begin your residency training in anesthesiology.

Good luck!
