What is the best school for English teachers in South Korea?

I would prefer to work in Seoul or Jeju. Please no recruiters. I would really appreciate the opinion of an honest English teacher who has experience in Seoul or Jeju. Thank you for your help. Jay

Hi. I’ve worked in South Korea (Seoul) for 3 years. It’s really diffiult to find the right school without visiting S. Korea or knowing someone there (friends, family, etc.) who can give advice. Besides, one school may seem like the right fit for one person and may not seem that good to another. What exactly are you looking for? Why are you afraid of recruiters?

My first job was for ELS Si-Sa, which is an adult school. We had a lot of teachers working there and some of them really hated it. I liked it. Also, if it’s gonna be your first time working there, be ready that smth may not go accoring to your plan. Usually after living there for some time, you’ll figure out what to expect from them and how to do “business” the Asian way. My husband went through a recruiter and he did have some problems, but not major ones. Just be careful signing a contract with them. Make sure you put everything in writing, whatever they promise you. Ask them for emails/phones of teachers working for their school. This way you can talk to them and ask questions about the school.

Also, I suggest reading Dave’s esl cafe.

Good luck!
