Is becoming a high school teacher a good career?
I know here in Ireland it is, but in America, is it a low class job. What is the pay like?

Teachers are not paid what they are worth, so if you are in it for the money, forget it. But if you are in it to make a difference in kid’s lives, then you should. Good teachers are needed everywhere, in NY city it will be very tough but rewarding.

Teachers are on the low end of the professional jobs.
We probably make less than anyone else with a degree.
Except for people with degrees that don’t get you a job.
But we get paid more than most people with out a degree.
Except there are even some specialist who make more than teachers with out a degree. My father in law is a machinist and he makes more money than I do.

I love it! No, it’s not low class. I have a master’s in teaching and it’s my first year. I make $37,080 per year. If you have a bachelor’s, you’d start around $32,000.

it is a great job what a racket. summers off good pay no responsibility and you cant be fired what is not 2 like??

public school it goes up to $100,000(in time)………..Catholic school gets a lot less,,,,,,,,,,,,,summers off…………………….. you will need a masters degree…………….most teachers i know like their jobs…………..but they are young, I don’t know how old teachers feel about the job…………….
