It’s usually a combination of history and the developmetn of the science.

So it starts PRE-FREUDIAN, goes through FREUD, JUNG, ADLER into PALVLOV, ROGERS and then into COGNICENT TESTING and EVALUATING and then into MODERN theories of psychological make up.

It’s basically the HISTORY of Psychology/Psychiatry from THEN TO NOW

And it covers the PRIMARY NUTS AND BLOTS of today’s field.

You will probably learn about the DIFFERENT SUB GROUPS of Psychology, such as testing, research, clinical practise, abnormal psyucholoyg, child psyuchology. But ALL superficially.

College isn’t as standardized as other levels of schooling. High school textbooks vary from district to district, so you can bet that college courses are even more diverse.

This is a good thing, because each major program is structured differently. For example, a large textbook wouldn’t be appropriate at a college that operates on 10-week quarters instead of 15-week semesters.

The best technique is to find out which section of Psych 100 you’ll be in, find out who’s teaching the section (the secretary of your college’s Psych Department will be able to give you this info), and email the professor. Or you can often find the answer simply by visiting your college bookstore — they’ll have the different textbooks organized by section.

Each college has its own text book choice, call your college bookstore and ask.
