full definition for each el, la, los,las,un,unos,una, and unas. plzzzzzzz help i have to teach it to the class
Favorite Answer
el: “the” applied to a masculine (male) object
la: “the” applied to a feminine (female) object
los: “the” applied to a mascule or mixed group (all male group or a group of both males or females) of objects
las: same as los, but for a group of only feminine objects
un: “a”, applied to a masculine object
unos: see un, but for multiple objects (“some”)
una: “a” applied to a feminine object
unas: see una, but for multiple objects (“some”)
note: “objects” could refer to either inanimate objects, animals, or people. Also, the gender of a noun in Spanish is usually readily apparent by inspecting the ending of the word. As a general rule, if the noun ends in “o” then it is male, and if it ends in “a” then it is female.
Los would be used if there are multiple, like for example “los chicos”. Las would be used only if they were all feminine.
If there were girls AND boys, for example, it would be “los chicos”.
Un, unos, una, and unas are used to mean “a/some”.
Un-singular masculine.
Unos- plural masculine.
Una- singular feminine.
Unas- plural feminine.
Good luck!
la=her
las=them (femenine)
los=them (masculine)
un=one/a (masculine)
unos=some(masculine)
una=one/a (femenine)
unas= some (femenine)
