McGill is known as the Harvard of the North down here in the states. It’s highly regarded and you wouldn’t do yourself a disservice by having a degree from there.

In general, a degree from a Canadian university will have the same status in the US as a degree from an accredited US university. Among Canadian universities probably only Toronto and McGill would be regarded as prestigious. However, if you are applying to graduate school the people who will be looking at your application will be very knowledgeable and will be able to assess the particular programme from the particular university you come from. That, how well you did, the quality of your application and the letters of reference you can provide will count for a lot more than some abstract “prestige”.

McGill has an outstanding reputation. Western Ontario is well-respected by people who know a lot about it, but the name strikes an American as a second rate regional state university. Mount Allison is not well known at all.

McGill is broadly commonplace in academic circles by using fact the Harvard of Canada. while you’re basically finding to flow to college, graduate and get a job contained in the mainstream US financial gadget, going to college in Canada is style of impartial, basically yet another college degree. while you’re finding to extend contained in the academic international, there are some kick butt colleges up there which will actual supply you a competive edge while you’re utilising to US grad colleges.

I’m from Canada and have two brothers who hold PhD.’s both did their undergraduate work, or parts of it in the US. They are both now employed in the US as professors in their fields. Neither went to the universities you have mentioned but I believe Canadian Universities in general are well thought of.
