At what level? K-12, or university? And which other countries?

I’d argue, for example, that the K-12 school system, those primary school years, are far stronger in the UK than they are in the US, as a whole. But there are very strong, excellent primary schools in the US that would outdo anything the UK had to offer, on an individual basis. But again, in aggregate, the education in that level in the UK is stronger.

But university? I’d argue, and I’d win that arguement, that the university system in the US is far, far stronger than that of any foreign country I know of, full stop. Not only on an aggregate basis, but also in terms of individual universities. The US has more, and better, universities than the UK, than Europe as a whole, than Canada, than Asia. Now, there are certainly strong universities outside the US. Oxford and Cambridge in the UK are in the elite, as are some of the colleges of U of London. But I’ll just list a few examples of US universities, and it’d be hard to beat them on anyone’s list: MIT, Cal Tech, Harvard, Princeton, Brown, U Michigan Ann Arbor, U Illinois Urbana Champaign, UCLA, USC, UC Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, Cooper Union, and I could just keep typing but I’ll spare you. Together and individually, the US has better (and more) universities than anyplace else on earth. And good for them. Can’t say they don’t welcome foreign students! And they certainly cost enough. :grins:

I went to a boarding High school in Switzerland in the 1960s. I also attended a number of private schools in the us growing up like Judson in Scottsdale, Arizona which is still in business today.

I think on the whole the European education system still is hands better that the education one gets in a US public school but private schools here hold their own.
