My first suggestion would be to wait and do a full year exchange when you are 16. You will have many more benefits, including your culture and language immersion. A summer program is good, a full year is tremendous!

Having said that, a list of all exchange student programs certified to operate in the U.S. is located at www.csiet.org. Do not use one not on that list! You should also ask your high school counselor as an organization is only as good as its local representatives. Good ones include Aspect, AFS, Rotary (cheapest, but most competitive), YFU

For lots of good info on being an exchange student, check out: www.exchangestudentworld.com

Good luck!

Here are some good sites that offer foreign exchange programs to high school students:

http://www.ayusa.org/

http://www.asse.com/

http://www.cci-exchange.com/programs_abroad.htm

http://www.ciee.org/

If you need help paying for these programs you can apply for a scholarship. Scholarships are free sources of money that help pay for your school expenses, and you don’t have to pay them back. You can read about them here:
