Helen is the face that launched a thousand ships. Odysseus left Ithaca because of the Trojan war, which Helen caused. Odysseus’ great voyage began when he and many other men left to battle in the Trojan War.

10 years after the end of the Trojan war, Telemachus travels in search of his father. In Sparta, Telemachus finds Helen and Menelaus, king and queen of sparta, now reconciled. It is Helen that finally recognizes Telemachus’ resemblance to his father. Menelaus tells Telemachus that Odysseus is still alive but detained by Calypso on an island.

Almost none at all. The Odsyssey takes place after the Trojan War is over. She has returned to her husband and is living as a faithful wife. Odysseus’ son goes to visit them when he is in search of his father. She is a hostess to Odyseus’s son but I don’t remember what happened during that visit. Read up on it.
