Question about the SAT?

For the mathematics portion of the SAT, am I required to memorize all the formulas or will they be provided for me?

I remember the math portion in a standardized test I took long ago included all the formulas. Will the SAT do the same? If so, are there any formulas it won’t include?

The geometry section provides a lot of formulas for area and volume. I don’t remember any algebra formulas however. It’s been awhile. Check out their website, collegeboard.com, it is very helpful and informative.

They give you a few geometric formulas, like area of a triangle, but other than that there are no really useful formulas that shouldn’t be obvious. To prepare for the SAT you should get a guide or book. From my experience, the best preparation books were princeton review guide, and the tutorfox new sat guide. Used together, I increased my SAT score by about 200 points. Good luck, and please let me know if you have any more questions.

It’s been a while since I took it (2000) and they may have changed it since then, but if I remember right, they provided the formulas. It’s a good idea to memorize them though, just in case.

These are the formulas they give you (scroll down): http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/prep_one/multi_choice/pracStart.html

There are more than enough, I doubt you’ll have to memorize any formulas.
