Homeroom is a hold over joke. It’s 15 minutes before school starts and before school ends in a given room with a given teacher and it’s mostly to hear news about the school, do the Pledge and socialize a little.
After they you go from class to class for subjects which start to get a little more microscopic about things.
Intead of covering general history you get into periods of time and learn about specific events like Feudalism, the Mercantile system, etc.
Math starts prepping you for Algebra.
There will proably be computer courses.
There might be shop courses for plastics, metal, fibre glass. This sort of replace art with the tempura colors which you won’t really be doing anymore.
English Literature often starts here with short stories, plays, poems. You read some of the classics from a collections text book. YOu have to do Essays on what you read.
Drama and Music may be availble and it starts to get real.
You learn to play band instruments (and you have buy one) or actually do acting and monologs.
There is no more “recess” in the typical sense, although they might have a break called “nutrition” which is 15 minutes for solcializing and eating food from the Caffeteria or vending machines.
I don’t know how youre elementary school was but at mine we ate lunch in our homeroom. AT Middle schools it’s always Cafeteria area with large metal picknick tables.
If you are going to middle school this year, thats awesome. its so much fun, you’ll have a blast.
