drop out of high school?

i’m 15 a sophomore this year and i want to drop out of high school. i live in NJ and i’m not sure if i can leave at 15. but i want to be an actress and if that doesn’t work i want to make wedding cakes…i really don’t think i need to learn anything more for either of those careers. my sister just graduated and she is now in beauty school….i have social anxiety anyway and i seriously want to leave school because i don’t think i am going to use this information in my lifetime. it is not necessary. plus high school is nothing but torture nowadays and you have people killing themselves and each other every day. i don’t know how to tell my parents this without them laughing at me or yelling at me. especially now that my sister graduated i don’t know if they will be ashamed. high school today is a joke my teacher leaves the room to go smoke a cigarette are you kidding me? i hate waking up in the morning knowing where i’m going. if i didn’t go to school i would be happier. what should i do

C’est Comme Un Rêve

I had panic attacks too, and I failed A LOT of courses because of it. Everyday I used to harass my mom “mom can I stay home, just for today? Pleeease!!” (she never let me stay home, thank goodness).

Well, I got my act together and last year made the honour roll taking all AP physics, chemistry, biology, math, history, english, and art.

If I can change my attitude, you absolutely can too.

Seriously, please don’t drop out!

get a GED if you want to drop out so bad, but just dropping out alone is a big mistake, so what if you dont use all the stuff you’ve learned, its all about getting that deploma, when you apply for jobs and people see that you only have part of a high school education they may not take you. if you have social problems you can always be in a special program where kids are isolated.

heres something i found over the internet about being an ACTRESS

“Even if you’re talented and you do everything right, your odds of success are infinitely small. And there are some things that people do wrong when pursuing an acting career, when people decide that this is what they want to do they usually go hop in a plane go straight to Las Vegas or California…that’s not right…”

“Whether you take classes at a local college or acting school, or study one-on-one with a coach, you’ll need to learn the basics: voice and movement; working with a script; warm-up exercises; acting for stage versus acting for camera; and so forth. Learn basic stage combat and dance, as well as a few accents. A driver’s license is surprisingly helpful. Get yourself in shape. Acting on stage and film is physically demanding, so start a workout regime. Next, read books. Literally hundreds discuss either acting techniques or the business of acting.”

“Lastly, save money. Most actors, at some point, move to a city like New York, Los Angeles, or Chicago, where many jobs are available. However, big-city living is expensive; save several thousand dollars before making the trip. Even if you stay near home, you’ll need money to travel to auditions, take classes, and so forth. .”

you wont become an actress within a SNAP

I dropped out of high school for two reasons … I was BORED silly (I was way too smart) and I had a dysfunctional family and I ran away from home. Please let me tell you that I am not ‘uneducated’ … I do not have a high school diploma or a GED, but I have a Bachelor’s of Science, a Master’s of Science and a PhD in Psychology. I went to college in a state where anyone could go to a state school if they were over 21 when they applied … Kids drop out of high school for many different reasons … some are into gangs and doing drugs, some are bored, some get pregnant or must marry and support a pregnant girl, others just don’t care, some have dysfunctional families and must run away to survive …

High School is miserable. Most of us have been through it, but believe me there is A LOT more for you to learn. If you want to make wedding cakes you really should go on to culinary school for pasteries. It will help you to build a career and not just a job.

A lot of stuff I learned in high school I thought I would never use and it is shocking to learn the things you do use in everyday life.

Your parents love you and I bet they want you to talk to them… go to them tell them how you are feeling and they can help you find a different school… maybe one that offers technical programs were you can get a start at baking and decorating cakes, or even acting.

I believe in most states you have to be 16 to drop out and get a GED. There is nothing wrong with getting a GED if that is what you really want but you should have a high school diploma in some way shape of form.

i dropped out of school when i was 17. i shouldn’t have done it. i got my ged immediately. i had plans to do other things, like college. i thought that high school wasn’t going to teach me anything i didn’t already know. well i never went to college as planned, i had children and got married. now i’m 26, divorced and finally went back to school . but i’m taking classes that would be much easier had i had them in high school. (you are learning much more than you think)

try switching the classes you are taking. you want to make wedding cakes then sign up for a cooking class in school. you want to be an actress then join the acting club at school. if you aren’t acting in school or in any other area, you probably won’t make a career out of it. that’s life. you are only 15, you don’t know what you need. you don’t know what you want. unfortunately when you are 15 you think you have all the answers. you don’t.

life is tough, high school is easy compared to the rest of it. don’t worry about having social anxiety. every 15 year old has some form of it. some just hide it better than others.

STAY IN SCHOOL.

you will surely regret it if you don’t. trust me.

dont drop out. i thought it sucked while i was there, but i stuck with it. your not going to become an actress right away if at all, and wedding cakes isnt a sure thing either. your going to need an actuall job to keep you afloat while your trying to make those two things work, and youll have a much easier time getting a job with at least a high school diploma

not continuing ur education will be the biggest regret of ur life. dont drop out. if ur school is so bad. maybe try transfering to another school.

u might think school is useless now. but if u continue you will realize its value.
