Algebra in 8th Grade?

Has anybody ever heard of the Cognitive Tutor, by Carnegie Learning? Well, anyways, has anybody taken Algebra 1 in 8th grade? What should I look out for. I took Pre-Al in 7th a year ahead, and now I’m taking Algebra 1 in 8th grade for High School Credits.

Please Help!

I’ve never heard of the Cognitive Tutor, by Carnegie Learning. I took Algebra 1 in 8th grade too for high school credits. Now I’m in 9th grade taking geometry. You just need to do your homework, and take notes. Your homework and notes will work as a study guide. The notes will help do the homework. You might want to watch for for pop quizzes and/or note checks!

One of the hardest part I would say would be graphing parabolas. Some of the other graphs are hard but not as hard as I found parabolas. Other than that Algebra 1 was really easy.

Ok, Algebra was hard for me, not the monomials and binomials, but the graphing, and making equations. Geometry I found a lot harder. I found it easy to solve the equations though. Ask questions, and If you don’t understand, try to meet with the teacher one on one outside of class or a friend that understands it, because you need to know some of this stuff for geometry, mostly the graphing, and solving equations, but A little of everything. I don’t know what Carnegie learning is, but Algebra is Algebra so it shouldn’t really matter that I took a different course from you. Try to read the material ahead of the class, so that you know what you don’t understand and have a good Idea of what to ask the teacher the next day. I agree with the perso under me, graphing parabolas was really hard. Hope this helps!

It shouldn’t be hard. The order your suppose to go is from pre algebra to algebra one in nineth grade. As long as you took pre algebra your good. At my school we did pre algebra in 7th grade, for advanced, and algebra 1 in eighth grade for a high school credit but some of us take honors algebra and skip algebra 1, that’s when you have up worry

i had algebra 1 in 7th grade, calm down. =]. don’t be afraid to ask questions about lessons, or stay and have lunch or stay after school with a teacher, so they can help you. i found it was always easier to ask questions during the lesson if you don’t understand something. other kids will probably have some of the same questions as you. if i really didn’t understand what was going on though, it’s okay to ask questions after class. algebra 1 is like an honors class in 7th and 8th grade, so you’re actually taking it ahead of everyone, and it’s okay to take a little more time to learn it. best of luck!

if you ever have any questions about it, feel free to ask me at anytime during the school year. i’ve completed algebra 1 & 2.

Algebra 1 was a piece of cake for me… i took Algebra 1 Honors in 8th grade and it was really easy! just pay attention in class and ask questions if you don’t understand something

if you do well in algebra 1, you’ll do fine in algebra 2.
