What can we do for breakfast and lunch at son’s high school?

There is no breakfast program at the school and lunch is $2.50 for a lunchable (basically). What can we as parents do to provide, solicit help, volunteer (anything) to have breakfast and better lunch options for the kids. I not just asking for my son because he sometimes eats at home for breakfast, but for the kids who would only have breakfast/lunch if it was served at school. I’m open for ANY ideas, people we should talk to, fundraisers, volunteer groups, restuarants ANYTHING. Thanks,

Eeee. Change will be tough, but well worth it–celebrities (Jamie Oliver) have tried, with only slight avail. Often, school lunch is deeply entwined into other financial matters, and curmudgeonous administrators tend to be conservative. I applaud your sentiment.

I would form an organization–call other parents who feel the same way, and ask them for their ideas.

Hmmm.. well that’s not good. How about you talk to the head lunch person or the principal, superantendant or advisor? Maybe they could go off campus for lunch if the school let them? Maybe you could start a fundraser for better food. Good luck and I hope things change for your son’s school!
