It really depends on your school. In some schools I’ve worked in lunch box kids were considered strange, some they didn’t care, and at some schools it was the norm. One the first day of school bring maybe a bottle of water and throw in a pack of crackers and grab several single dollar bills. That way you can follow the crowd on this one. (Maybe everyone is bringing food, but buying a drink at the machine…. or whatever) This way your flexible and feel the situation out. The lunch lines are usually terrible on the first day of school anyway…a decent lunch may not be an option. After the first week, you will have your routine kind of down pat and can move on with your life. 🙂 Teachers new to the school think about these things, too. 🙂

depends whats on it, if it wasn’t dorky in 8th grade then it wouldn’t really be all that dorky in 9th grade. The only difference is that you’d be eatting with 9-12 graders so someone might make fun of it or it might go missing from someone stealing for the fun of it. otherwise i wouldn’t worry about it.

If your name is on it then yeah, if theres a character on it then yes. Otherwise it worked in 8th, it’ll work in 9th.

if you’re moving there and this is your first time in the school district then i wouldn’t take a lunch box to school.

OMG yes! As a sophomore trying to delay the teasing of 2011, I urge you to just get school lunch. Unless your a vegetarian, pescetarian, or vegan. Lunch boxes are supposed to be left at the elementary school exit. Haven’t you seen the myspace bulletin going around about the freshmen?

Look, if you want to bring lunch in a lunch box – go ahead. The school lunches suck..they suck really bad. If you like your lunch box, who cares about anyone else. If you don’t want to cause a scene or anything, just get a regular lunchbox…without the kiddie stuff.

i think it depends, if it’s a lunch box because you’re a dork and you think you need one then yes it’s dorky. If its a retro lunch box because that’s your style then probably not. If you’re a girly girl and you have a pink one with a fuzzy pink handle..no, see how it works? Double standards I know but as long as your mom didn’t pick it out or force you to carry one i think you’re cool!

yes. most ppl buy lunch at school. if you bring your own lunch…i suggest you dont bring it in a lunch box, how bout a paper bag? a lunch box can be a burden in high school. especially if you dont have lockers (most schools dont anymore) think about it, carrying a lunch box AND a bunch of books around all day.

have you ever thought about bringing a cloth lunch box? my son brought the one that came with his book bag for his freshman year and plans to do it for the 3 years he has left in highschool. My son also couldn’t care less what people thought , you would figure that by the time people are in highschool they’d be a bit mature and have more important things on their minds such as their gpa’s , psat’s and sat’s.

i dont think so, but it depends on wat type of box it is…. what is your definition of dorky?? i kno we all go thru the phase where we dont want to be seen as dorky people, and so on and so forth, but really, it doesnt matter what anyone thinks. its a stupid lunch box and i know its easier said then done. but hey! i would rather carry a lunch box around and not squash my food. i mean who wants yoghurt all on their textbooks?? who wants to be seen with a paper bag?? thats even worse…..and spending money on food?? imagine how much you could save…u kno that new top that you want?? u could get with that. think of the possibilities, child. lol
