Do you need the GCSE in a specific subject to do it at A Level?

I’ve been expelled from 2 schools, and held back a year. Yes, I was a bit of a retard in Year 7, and I’ve come round a bit too late. I should have been leaving this year, but it’s probably a bit of a blessing I’ve got another year, else I’d be leaving with nothing in the way of GCSEs. The school I currently attend only offers the basic GCSEs such as the core subjects, Maths, Science and English, D&T Resistant Meterials, the standard Art & Design GCSE, Leisure and Tourism, and PE.

As you can see, it offers no specialist subjects, just the basics. Will this hinder my entitlement to get on specialist A Level subjects in a sixth form, will I only be allowed on the A Level course coresponding to the GCSE course, or is it more flexable than this?

Thanks

you won’t be able to do a subject at A level if you havent got the GCSE. But, you have no one to blame but yourself.. you shouldnt have screwed up when you were younger.

Good Luck.
