Is if normal for a kid in second grade to get homework that’s more or less the same amount as a fourth grader.

My brother get’s a ton of homework and he’s not even an honor student has time changed that much that now 2nd graders get so much homework. I mean sometimes it’s just really uncalled for today he did over 4 pages and still has to do daily reading.

One way to check is to ask other kids’ parents about their homework load. It’s usually a good way to gauge it. Sometimes teachers set their own homework & it can be waaay too much or none at all. Sometimes teachers don’t realize how long & what a chore homework can be, especially those teachers w/o kids or long time since small kids. And check on what other (same grade) students are doing at the same school (is it a grade level based assignment? Or teacher selection?) And you can always talk to the teacher about it if it’s too much or too difficult. It’s a big struggle at our home, probably most!! Good luck this year 🙂

i think of 4th grade is yet another 365 days for standardized attempting out, so i’m no longer all that stunned that she’s getting a ton of homework. in spite of the shown fact that, if she will mattress by using hour of darkness, and he or she’s no longer up interpreting for a attempt the night until eventually now, she ought to easily flow to mattress by using 10pm and regardless of she does not get carried out could be carried out the subsequent morning, or no longer carried out in any respect. How is her mom scheduling her time? If it takes her 4-5 hours and he or she will mattress that late, then whilst is she beginning her artwork? Is she spending too plenty time on one concern? Why does it take her see you later to get it finished? Is it truly the quantity of artwork, or the quantity of time it takes her to end the artwork? I went to a private college, so i understand the way that’s. that’s all approximately scheduling. additionally, inspite of the undeniable fact that I agree that 5 hours well worth of homework is plenty for a fourth grader, the different comments pointing out that an hours well worth of artwork is sufficient heavily isn’t authentic. if your newborn has something decrease than 2 hours of homework a night, the two the instructor is slacking, or the newborn is mendacity.

near the end of my school time i remember that most schools were starting this policy that

“No matter the grade level a student will recieve an hours worth or school work for every hour they send in school.”

Mind you this didn’t apply to me for i was a senior and all the classes i had left were electives and those rarely had homework.

That is kind of extreme, but maybe that amount is supposed to be the amount he gets for the week, and it is all due on Friday, so he has five days to do those four sheets. I’d talk to his teachers and see what’s up

it depends on the school and the county. it’s like currency. a dollar in USA maybe 50 cents in euros. private school gives tougher work than in public and maybe a little more. that’s another thing to consider. it might be un-normal. i was in private school in kindergarten and i got stuff in there for 1st grade. once i got to first grade i was advance more than my classmates and then i was in public school for 1st-12th. it gave me a great start. in 1st i was able to qualify for a magna program. also depends on kid.

Yes. The same amount is normal. But if it’s the same curriculum I’d be worried.
