I have sang in choirs and loved every minute of it. A choir…is a bunch of people singing. The good part about that …its easy to hide….so being shy isn’t a problem once you get past the initial try out…LOL…you can get some of the best ear training in the world in a choir…and it teaches you how to blend so you don’t sing louder than the other singers…you should just go for it….

I’m in Select choir now. Although before this year, i wasnt sure if i’d try out. It’s not that I’m shy, but I had major stage fright, that I couldn’t overcome. It’s been a problem until recently. My dad is a music minister, so he’s on stage around 5 times a week. He told me just to be comfortable with my surroundings. When I sing with a choir I try to get to know everyone. To be comfortable singing with them. I mean, who’d want to sing with a bunch of strangers, anyways?

Being in choir is also an excellent way to work on not being as shy. I found that’s it’s not even hard to sing on stage when you’re with a big group of people.

I can give speeches in class loud and clear now too =]

So I’d say join choir. And don’t worry if you haven’t had much practice with low and high notes. I’m sure your choir teachers will do voicing. They’ll try to put you in with others who have a range like your’s. Plus, you’ll probably be doing a lot of warm-ups to expand your range.

Now is the time to get over your shyness. Give it a try. You will enjoy singing, I guarantee it. Once you start singing with others around it will become easier for you. But if your don’t at least try, you will always be in the rut you are in. You don’t have to sing loud at first. Start soft until you build up confidence and then you can increase your volume. Good luck!

I did that at one element – no longer connect a choir. Now i’m in a choir and the area i’m in follows my lead. i do no longer extremely comprehend why yet they do. a minimum of we sound ok and that’s the main element.

If singing is what you want to do then i say go for it who cares if you embarrass yourself and its not like the the teachers are going to tell every one that you are a bad singer which I’m not saying

Go for it. I did not know what was going to

happen until I joined the glee club nor the choir.

Now I’m glad I did. Do it!!!!

i was in the band in my school and theatre class really helped:) so you probably want to join the choir and take theatre so you could get used to “performing” in public.
