Why the hell would it be up to the parent if the child fails? If the child fails, it’s because the teacher gave him an F because his work sucks.

Why would you think a child can not repeat a grade? ( It’s not called failing ) if a child has not mastered enough skills in the 5th grade to make him competent in the 6th grade he need to repeat to gain the needed knowledge. The parent should have been made aware of the schools intent to retain the child long before the end of the school year. When your job decides to give you a pink slip for poor performance they do not ask your permission., but they do give you notice.

Of course they can! It is up to the teacher/principal of the school. If your child hasnt done work, been to school, taken required tests OF COURSE they will fail. The parent can complain but there is nothing you can do except make sure your child is doing well so they won’t get left back again!

the school (staff, facualty, principal) decides…if a child passes to the next grade but the parent thinks that the child should repeat the grade the parent(s) have to talk with the principal
