the real answer, a lot of times the stuff you learn in school is not used so much. Engineers, medical doctors, yes they need school to perform the work they do. I would say about 6 out of 10 times, if not more, it really doesn’t pertain or help to train you to do what you do at your job.

So what is important about going to college and how is this related to your employer. I think most people who don’t go to college don’t realize just how difficult and time consuming it is and what it takes. You gain a respect for people who go to college if you have. I think going to school shows your potential employer that you have the ability to perform difficult tasks, manage your time, able to handle stress, and it shows that your are willing to go the way, to improve yourself to move on up in the world. College is more of a character builder rather then providing skills that you will need in the workplace.

I tend to agree that there are just some things you learn in school that you will not use in your lifetime, but you really never know what life will bring you and if the information will come in handy.

I think the more you can learn the better you will be in the long run. I think they should cut some of the things out or in half and put our arts back into the schools. I think the arts are very important in life.

It isn’t the school that is important it is the lifetime of learning you do that is important. When you go to college and expecially a Community college you can pick and choose what you want to learn.

I can tell you now that if you would like to have a great paying job you have no choice, but to get a degree and in order to do that you have to trudge thru the classes that you may not necessarily use on the job. I think you will be a better more well rounded person for it though.

Even if you don’t go into writing, an understanding of grammar helps you if you ever want to learn another language.

Science is for curiosity about everyday objects and how they work, and how to make sure you’re safe around them. How it’s usually presented in schools is quite dry, unfortunately.

Social studies is so that you can understand what’s going on in the world. By knowing how events played out in the past we can gather a rough idea of how they may go in similar situations of the future. It’s also so that you can understand other people’s cultures, as well as your own.

I think math is actually the least important of the 4 because the average person is going to grab a calculator to do any difficult math once they’re out of school, and that’s assuming any difficult math even comes along. Unless you go into a field that requires it, you’re likely never going to use the advanced high school math.

School is important, but not in the way you’d think while you’re in high school. Trust me, whatever field you go into after school you will find what you learned useful.

You may not use a lot of the stuff you learn in school but it opens your mind when you process that information in your head which makes your brain able to process information better that you will need at work. Nouns and adjectives actually are important, whether your future career depends on writing or not but it will help your speech much more.

I would just be honest and say “School and my career is more important than a part time job, and I thought that it was obvious that I don’t consider working here a career opportunity.” Your managers doesn’t sound to me like somebody I’d want to work for. I wouldn’t quit though; I’d let them lay you off so you can collect unemployment and their company would have to pay for the majority of it. (Yes, you can collect on a part time job, and no, they can’t fire you for being available the same hours you have worked for three years. They can lay you off, but you would still be eligible for unemployment compensation.)

Employers like employees who know how to think, reason, analyze and communicate. English, Science, Math, and Social Studies help with that.

You also use science everytime you try to figure something out. Say your computer wasn’t working. If you are trying to figure out what the problem is, you’re using science skills to do that.

Drop it off and ask that again in about 20 more years when you awake from under a bridge or bending over to pick up a slice of pizza some one left on the side walk.

In the short… If we didn’t have school we’d be completely illiterate. We would be back in the farming ages. We’d go backward in time.

Why can’t you people just accept that school is GOOD for you? I happen to like the fact that I know I can grow up to be a lot of things and not just a farmer, or some woman who works in a factory.

If you ever want to advance yourself in life, you owe it to yourself to get the best education you possibly can get. All of it is very important. In order for you to write resume’s, correspond with others and socialize with others. If you just want a job as a burger-flipper the rest of your life, act like school isn’t important! What you earn in life is directly proportionate to your skills. What kind of life do you want for yourself??? Learn!!!

May God bless you.

It is important unless you don’t mind working two to three jobs to support yourself. There is a saying. The more school you have, the more you use your brain, and the less physical labor you do. Of course some people prefer ignorance.
