Don’t be ignorant and hopefully others won’t be either but be ready for some name calling. And latinos and african americans are human and AMERICAN also so you shouldn’t be trying to put people in a box already.

Just Being Honest
Sit back, watch what the other kids are doing, and don’t attach yourself to the first person who is nice to you. You should be yourself. If people don’t like you for who you are then they’ll never be true friends anyway. As for not getting labeled “a hater” or getting picked on, don’t say ugly things. Think about how your comments will be received before you give your opinion, and just be nice. It’s much easier than constantly worrying about your image.

I live in the south and I know how it is only going to school with all whites. There are like 5 black people in the whole school and a couple people from Panama, and a couple Mexicans. I admit it does take a little getting used to being around them, because you’ve always been around your own race. It doesn’t make you a hater, it just puts you in a new environment. I’m sure you’ll be just fine as long as you’re nice to everyone and don’t make it too obvious that you aren’t used to being around people of other races. They’re really no different, their skin just happens to be a little different :p And as far as your accent goes, I get looked at sometimes when I go somewhere like Iowa, but it’s not like they just gawk at you. If you’re nice and friendly, people wont mind your accent so much. One of my friends is from Wisconsin and she says things like “teble” instead of table, “beg” instead of bag, and “Wiscansin”. But she’s really cool and no one bothers her about her accent, just her friends and she knows they’re just playing around. Good luck!

i have never had problems with latins (fyi all latins are not the same — learn to respect their differences) and seldom problems with blacks (the stupid gang stuff — thats just a few and not all of them). i have had the most problems with whites that think their groups are the best (like gangs of irish girls that will kick anyones butt just because they are mean or the people that think they rule the school). latins and blacks are seldom like that. minorities usually don’t have the hate built in that white people do so don’t worry about them hating you too much. really just be yourself and remember they are people just like everyone else. you really would have a lot more to worry about if you were going to some uptight white school. just be your normal self and try to not act all paraniod. white people are good at being paraniod and it makes other people think something is up. when you talk to people like friends they will talk to you back like friends. easy.
