elementary schools/kindergarten in grants pass oregon?

in september i will be relocating to grants pass oregon from germany. i am trying to get information on the public school district for my daughter (5). i have already checked out various websites and i like the sound of ft. vannoy elementary best. i was wondering if any of you out there could tell me more about it or other schools located in the area. please do not list websites for me to check out as i am looking for the opinions and experiences of people who went there or have their children enrolled personally. yes, my children are fluent in english (except for a boston accent! LOL!) as they are raised bilingually and, yes, we are citizens. thank yxou very much for your information and time

As a former resident of Grants Pass, Oregon and a former substitute teacher in the Grants Pass, Oregon, public schools system, Lincoln Elementary School is one of the best Grants Pass elementary schools. The teachers are dedicated and knowledgeable. The principal is fair and just. The school itself adheres to advanced technology. The students who attend are friendly and easy to get to know. If you choose to send your daughter to Lincoln Elementary School, I think you’ll be pleased. Of course, I’ve heard good things about Fort Vannoy Elementary School as well; unfortunately, I can’t comment personally about this particular school as I have never subbed nor have visited there. However, I did tutor a child who attended Fort Vannoy Elementary School, and he seemed to like it. The only problem was his parents didn’t seem to think his math teacher cared enough about him to realize that he was struggling in Pre-Algebra; hence, I tutored him in this course, so that he could comprehend the material (primarily the concepts and how-to-do the problems, especially the word problems) and to prepare well for the end of the year Pre-Algebra test, which he passed “with flying colors.” Otherwise, I don’t have anything else to report regarding Fort Vannoy Elementary School. I hope this helps you make an informed decision regarding your daughter’s education. Another alternative you might wish to consider is to visit both schools, talk to the principal of each school, and to talk with the guidance counselors @ both schools. You could actually do the above now since both the principal and guidance counselors are on twelve-month contracts. You could telephone before you chose to visit each school to be sure the above personnel would be available. While you’re there, you could ask questions about any concerns you may have, and I believe the principal as well as the guidance counselors would give you candid answers to your questions. You may also want to visit a classroom @ each school to get a feel for the place where your daughter will be learning and growing. Good luck!

It is a nice, laid back, smaller city, perhaps a little more mountainous than Wyoming. 4 seasons with rather wet winters and springs.(pacific northwest rain) Somewhat humid. Lots of bugs and spiders during the summer/autumn, but nothing to worry about. On rare occasion the western black widow can be found if you look for them. Ticks can be plentiful during summer/autumn so repellents/collars for pets may be in order. As for the quantity of bugs and spiders, nothing you can’t cope with, maybe little different than what you have now. If it meant work, I would live there in a heartbeat. My brother lived there several years, and living just upstate a bit, would often visit. It is nice, I like it.
