EMS con-ed?

I have been out of the EMS field for a few months

right now I am training as a supervisor at a nursing home…but I hate it…and I want to get back on a rig. My problem is that I don’t know how much my skills have lagged.

what CON-ED classes would you recommend and how long till I should quit where I am ( I was thinking a few months so I have supervisor on my resume)

Justin, the training need depends on where your skill level was before and the number of patients you had a chance to treat. If you have been in the field a very long time with vast patient care exposure, local CE should be all you need. If you feel the you need help in trauma patients take a BTLS/ITLS course. I’m not sure what certifiaction level you have but you can take a weekend PEPP or PALS course for pediatrics, GEMS for geriatrics, ACLS for cardiology or a DOT refresher course. Have you considered working in EMS part time while you receive your supervisor training? It’s not just the supervisor titile employers look at, it’s the time in that position as well.
