Why dont you sign up for an ESL (English as a Second Language) class at your local junior college? That way you will be with others who are also learning to speak English, and wont feel so embarassed about your English proficiency, because you will be just like everyone else (and probably better than most).

You seem to do good in typing English!

Just don’t be afraid. Some people may laugh, but ask them how many languages they can speak!? You apparently speak two, as far as I can tell from your question.

English is one of the hardest languages to learn.

I took spanish for roughly 10 years all through school, and still can’t speak it (Or typer it) fluently. But that’s my problem.

You’ll find a friend or friends or even ask your relatives, to have conversations with you in English so your “practiced”.

You could also talk to a guidence couselor or even the head of your schools drama, or debate, or an english teacher, to give you “scripts” to read aloud with them or at home.

Just think to yourself….”Self, i came all this way, just so i could talk to my self?? NO. I came here for new experinces, ner friends, education…Let’s show these Americans what I’m made of!” OK, corny I know…but i suffer from depression and hate to see people like yourself to sufer to.

Like any skill, the only way you’re going to get better is to practice using it.

While I don’t disagree that an “English as Second Language” course is a great idea, your personal circumstances may not allow for it. (i.e. – time, schedule, cost, etc.)

If an actual course is out of the question, you may be able to find some helpful materials at the local library. (They may have “self-instruction” books, CD’s, DVD’s.)

If none of that is to your liking, might I suggest practicing on your own. Pick up a book or a newspaper in the privacy of your own home and just start reading aloud. (If you have a tape recorder or microphone set up on your computer – you may want to try recording yourself and listening to the playback. Over time, it may help you to track your progress.)

Good Luck… and try not to get discouraged.
