Because if I think that everyone born in Canada is slow, I am being narrowminded. If you were Canadian you’d probably have bad feelings if I shared my narrowmindedness with you and call me an ehtnocentrist.

Since the beginning of mankind, stereotyping has been just a normal nature of humanity. Or am I just being stereotypical?

Every culture has its own little quirky traits that are simply a part of their intrinsic manners.

It is the exaggeration of those mannerisms and/or traits that make stereotyping hateful and stupid.

Bigots take a little piece of some other culture, blow it out of proportion, and cause it to appear as foolish, greedy, or altogether socially unacceptable, because it is either something they hate, somebody they hate, or most usually someone they envy due to their own covetous nature.

Stereotyping should be humorous, and taken with a grain of salt, and should not be removed from our lives, because it is a thing that helps us all to see and to realize that people are different, and unique.

Political correctness for the sake of making all people exactly the same is really what is contrarily causing a lot of racism and bigotry to rear its ugly head once again.

You may act as though you don’t see or notice a difference between nationalities, and colors of skin, but you would be lying to yourself, and creating a false environment for your children.

People are different. Always have been, always will be. It’s interesting, fun, humorous, and delightful, and those differences should be embraced, and nurtured.

They shouldn’t be ignored, because if you can’t see what attempting to make all people the same has done to society today, perhaps you should begin to observe the repercussions that exist now, because of the so-called “liberal-mindedness” that is so dominant among those who have never been anywhere outside of their own living rooms.

Travel, and learn from those other cultures. Listen to them, and laugh about your differences, and poke fun at one-another. There is absolutely nothing wrong with making good fun of your friends, and allowing them to do the same to you.

It’s what REAL friends do. Instead of making enemies.

Nuff Said.

It doesn’t directly promote those things but it does promote an unhealthy negative image of ourselves in our mind. I think that being a first hand victim of stereotyping makes me and others like me a little more enlightened than those doing the stereotyping. But everyone encounters some type of unfair judgement so I think that everyone is a little bit narrowminded when it comes to others. Hope this helps!

Because it classifies people. ANd people cannot be classified. Maybe you have your socks put together with all the matching ones. You cant do that with people because every one’s different.

But people sort of stereotype themselves too. Think about it. Walk into the cafeteria for lunch 7th period and you see: All the “emo” kids sitting together at one table.Football players are sitting with other football players and cheer leaders. All the skater kids are together, all the stoner kids are together, and then we come up with names for these groups of people and stereotypes are born

Then without even noticing it even people who are against stereotypes like me find themselves using the terms “emo” “jock” “prep” ect. Like today in my American History class we were talking bout the house of reprsenatives and as an example she said that instead of having all the juniors meet and talk about possibilties for prom they have a prom commitee. And one kid (a football player kid) said “yeah that wouldnt work because all the emo kids would want a My Chemical Romance theme and all the prep kids would want an OC theme”

So yeah. theres my little rant.

Well, racial stereotyping–which is so common,

it’s a cliche in society today, just as it always has

been–promotes those things because of the sort

of influence it has on society/culture: the very same

sort of influence that any sort of rap (even so-called

“gospel”) rap has. Namely, NEGATIVE.
