for those that read the outsiders….?

there is a poem in the outsiders book by robert frost:

Nature’s first green is gold,

Her hardest hue to hold.

Her early leaf’s a flower;

But only so an hour.

Then leaf subsides to leaf.

So Eden sank to grief,

So dawn goes down to day.

Nothing gold can stay.

why would this be an important quote in the chapter of the outsiders book? like how would it be significant? how could i write a paragraph with a topic sentence+ 1CM+ 2CDs+ concluding sentence about it? can somebody help? thanks

Sure it was sad, in several ways. It was a sad commentary on life in general, especially with the haves and have-nots. It’s a sad commentary on the actions of those who feel elite and their treatment of those they think are inferior. Oddly enough, once upon a time some Socs were actually friends with the Greasers. The only thing that separated them was money. Another “sad” factor. The Greasers were “supposed” to be the low lifes, but look what they did in the fire, and what it cost them. The socs’ wouldn’t have done that, they were too self important to sacrifice themselves like that. There’s an old bible saying, “We shall be judged by how we treat the least among us.”

well. i did this in 8th grade, but i do remember having to memorize and recite the poem in class.

if i remember right, it’s about ups and downs and how you can’t really know good without the bad, and the outsiders were sort of the low-class outcasts … ummmmmm and when johnny dies, i believe everyone loved johnny, right? and he was “gold” to them and he left. look it up on google or sparknotes, man

Obviously you have read nothing more than that…Why? It is a great book. If I thought that I could assist you in this and you would read the book afterwards I might – Yet, you read that poem and still don’t want to see the meaning?

he is telling him to stay true to himself
