Solve on [0 , 2 pi ): ( 2 cos^2 X ) + ( 9cosX ) + 4 = 0
The first cosine is squared and X is the angle the plus sign starts the next segment.

Solve for cos x as a quadratic, using standard methods, and then the solution for x will be trivial. The quadratic can be easily solved by factoring; you don’t need to use the formula.
