Definitely.

With the internet and youtube, almost everything’s possible to learn: http://youtube.com/results?search_query=Guitar+learning&search=Search

There are also tons of books designed to teach almost every instrument (including guitar) without a teacher.

Btw, there is no difference between the way an acoustic guitar and an electric guitar is played, so tutorials that are geared to the acoustic guitar also work for an electric guitar… you just need to know how to adjust the volume and stuff on an electric guitar too.

Definitely! You can learn almost ANYTHING without an instructor… If you want to learn all the technical terms that go with electric guitars, you could google in some sites, check an encyclopedia (seriously, I tried this out for learning embroidery!), or ask a friend who knows how to play the electric guitar. Just fool around, per se, with your guitar, and you’ll actually discover many interesting tricks that you’d probably never have found, if you’d learned with an instructor. They would probably teach you in the way they’ve learned, and you wouldn’t learn anything new. Experiment, and practice, and get a book if you need to.

Yes there are websites and instructional DVDs that you can get. My daughter(age 9) is learning to play her acoustic guitar by using a book and DVD. She’s not doing too bad.

Of course, if you have a natural thing for it. My nephew taught himself. He taught my neice, has a band and is on full ride music scholarship to a private university.

Anything is possible.

Sure thing. Try this site, it’s great. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it. Thanks to it, now i play like a professional guitarist.
