Not happy w/ college in general…do I transfer? But I’m afraid I will always feel like this?

OK I had to rewrite b/c of the limited characters. In a nutshell, I don’t like my college right now, it’s too little and boring, I don’t feel like I really belong here. The pluses are it is close to home and a good school, I just am unhappy here. Everyone else likes it (it seems) but me. I go home on weekends (like a ton of other ppl) b/c there is NOTHING to do here. So I’ve been here 2 months and still don’t feel any different towards college, and I really really miss high school.

Now, the thing is, I was thinking of transferring to the large university where my 2 best friends go. I know this isn’t a good reason but I have talked w/ one and he would like to room with me next year if I did. I’m just worried though that it may not be the actual college that I don’t like, but college in general. Otherwords, I’m afraid if I transfer there, I will like it more since I’ll be with my best friend but I may not actually like the college, and then be back to square one…what do I do?!

Ya know if you still hate it in December then transfer. You need to let go of the high school thing…its was fun but let it go….i promise you are on the path to some of the best times of your life. Now transferring to be with you friends, not in all aspects a bad idea. The change of location could be good, and you might be able to figure out if it was the school or college in general right now. Then you might want to think about taking a semester off to do something else. I took of a semester and went to Australia to backpack in the outback…cost about the same as a college semester and i actually got college credit for it!! You have quite a few options, just talk to your parents, keep them informed, and be as logical as you can when talking to them about it. Trust me on that one…i have been there. You can’t just use the “i don’t like it” line…never flies with them! And do not even get me started on how many times i have transferred..i think i have set a world record and i could write a book on how to apply for college!!!!

It is not wrong to feel happy. To say it is wrong is the manifestation of a selfish mind. One needs to replace the selfish mind with a mind that is earnest to help others. An act to make another happy inspires the other to make still another happy, and so happiness is born from such an act. Thousand of candles can be lighted from a single candle and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by sharing. Be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.

I would stick it out at the college you are at for at least one semester. After that you will have a better idea of what you are feeling. It is still so new to you right now to make a decision.
