google “mesa arizona homeschooling groups”, go to the 2nd result. It’s homeschoolcentral.com or something. Then get information about a homeschooling group in your area and call the director. They would be able to give you information and perhaps even invite you to some of their events.

Dr. Brian Ray has created the National Home Education Research Institute to gather demographic data on homeschooling around the country. Here is that website:

Home Page

You may also contact the Office of Public Instruction or Department of Education for Arizona and or the school district in Mesa, AZ to find specific numbers from last year’s child counts. You can probably find that online by googling OPI Arizona or Dept. of Education Arizona. I know most states have a data area where you can find that online yourself.

You can also find homeschool laws and some demographics at the Home School Legal Defense Association website:

www.hslda.org

I hope that steers you in yoru data gathering. By the way, for social status, does your teacher mean socioeconomic status or socialization process? These are completely different topics and require different questions to ask during your research.

Talk to people at a local church they may be able to get you in touch with a couple of home school families. As to how look up www.hslda.org to get the legal info and a few curriculum’s to get an idea of how it could be done. The school system may not be much help as they are generally against every thing home school.

You’ll need to do some actual research. Talk to your school district office and find out who there is in charge of homeschooling. Ask them the question. Ask them to put you in touch with homeschool families you can interview. Ask your teachers their views on homeschooling. Sounds like an interesting project.
