You should definitely go to the college of your dreams! And it is silly that your parents told you not to worry about what college you want to go to. They should be proud of your for being so focused and determined at such a young age. Also, you need to start applying next year! Saying that, I wouldn’t stress out too much now. You may want to gather as much information on the college as you can and really present the college to them. Find out EVERYTHING that you can. If you really want it, which it sounds like you do, the effort that you put in to this research will be what shows your parents that you are mature and responsible. This may shift their thinking a little bit.

Be careful to not get too upset if they are not as receptive to you the first couple of times. Look at it as a challenge and just keep at it. If you get all upset and emotional about it, they could use it as an excuse that you’re not ready to handle it. Just stay calm and collected and INFORMED! They can’t say no forever, especially if you present a good case.

Also, think of some of their “no” arguments ahead of time so you have a good, informationally rooted response ready for them. Good Luck!
