Absolutely! I have friends who graduated early by homeschooling or taking equivalency exams.

The two things you need to find out are:

– What it takes to get a high school diploma in your state.

– Your state’s homeschooling regulations.

A local homeschooling group will have information about homeschooling regulations. http://www.homeedmag.com/wlcm_groups.html and http://www.nhen.org/support/groups/browse.asp are good sources of links to local homeschool organizations. A lot of these will also be able to help you with general information on getting a diploma.

Once you figure out the quickest way to get that diploma while meeting any other educational goals you might have, then just go to it–you’ll be able to cover a lot of material much faster on your own than you could in school where so much time is wasted on discipline and classroom management.

Contact your state or provincial homeschool association for your options. Here in CA, students 16 years or older (also younger under some circumstances) may earn the High School Certificate of Proficiency, which is the legal equivalent of a high school diploma. Details can be found here: www.chspe.net

Yes, since you will be working at your own pace, as well as setting the days, and time you will be spending on these studies.

The average public school 4 year curriculum can easily be done in 2 years at home, because you will not have all the interruptions that a regular school day would have.

Yes. At school, it can take as long as two years to complete a course that is only meant to take 240 hours – I’ll leave you do the maths.

Yeah, you can. If you mean finish high school at home, then you can. I suggest Penn Foster High School. Check out their site.

You can do the program in 9 months.

You can go as fast as you like. I skipped 7th grade (took some tests to “prove” that I was capable) and finished a lot of school years earlier than my public school counterparts.

Pace yourself however you (and your mom and/or dad) like!
