Theme:
The theme of this study is to determine whether men are smarter than women or whether women are smarter than men, in the past men have been considered to play major and most important roles in the society. For example men in the past have held high position in the society in leadership, and there are more men than women who are leaders of the important institutions in the society. The society in the past perceived women to be weak and less intelligent and their only position in the society included taking care of children. This perception has however changed and women today are holding top positions, the following study analysis data for an IQ test from a sample of 5 mean and 5 women.

Are Woman smarter than a Men
Reason for choosing this case:
I choose to study this particular concept because of the fact that women in past have been less powerful and through this analysis this would enable me to understand why women do not hold top positions in the society, also to analyze why women do not hold position whether this is because they are less intelligent or whether this is because men discriminate against them.
Sample:
The population in this study is male and female in the university, a stratified sample was obtained comprising of 5 men and 5 women, however the sample in each category was obtained randomly, the reason for selecting a sample was due to the cost and resources associated with studying the entire population.
Expected results:
The expected results in this study are that mean and women are equally intelligent, and therefore the reason why women are do not hold top position in the society is because they are viewed as weak by men, the society do not give women a chance to prove their abilities, this can is evident from history where women in the past did not hold top positions compared to today where changes have occurred and women hold position that were considered to be held by men only.

Are Woman smarter than a Men
In order to analyze the difference in intelligence between men and women descriptive statistics such as the mean, standard deviation, minimum value and maximum value are computed, the following table summarizes the results:
women

Are Woman smarter than a Men

109
From the above table the average IQ test results show that women have a lower average value (108.4) than men (108.8), however the standard deviation between the two categories show that men data have a higher standard deviation, the minimum value for women is 104 while the minimum value for men is 98.
Outliers:
This section determines whether there are outliers in the data set, combining all the data values the minimum and maximum values are as follow
Minimum=98 LQ-1.5QR , UQ+1.5QR IQR=UQ-LQ
Lower Quartile=106 106-1.5(13), 119+1.5(13) IQR=119-106
Median=108 106-19.5 , 119+19.6 IQR=13
Upper quartile= 112 |
(86.5 , 138.5) |
Maximum=119
6/12
Are Woman smarter than a Men
Therefore the data set should range from 86.5 to 138.5, given that the minimum value of the data set and the maximum value of the data set are within this range then outliers do not exist in the data set.
Hypothesis test:
A T test is appropriate for this study given that there are only two categories to consider, the following is the hypothesis tested:
Null hypothesis;
Ho: q1 =q2
Alternative hypothesis:
H1:q1> q2
Where Q1 is the male IQ test score mean and Q2 is women IQ test score mean, using excel data analysis tool the following results were obtained:

t Critical two-tail

From the table the T statistics value is -0.10127 while the T critical two tail value is 2.4469, the T critical value is than the statistics value and therefore the null hypothesis is accepted.
Implications:
The null hypothesis Ho: q1 =q2 is accepted and this implies that the mean IQ test score for male and female are equal; this means that men and women are equally intelligent.
3. Visuals
A bar chart is more appropriate in this case given that there are only two categories and that the mean values are being considered, this graph aids in comparing data values and statistics such as the mean, the following bar chart indicates the mean value for each category:
From the above chart the mean value for male is greater than the man value for female
11/12
Are Woman smarter than a Men
Conclusions:
Results in the above analysis show that women IQ test score mean value is lower than men IQ test score mean value, it is also evident that a hypothesis test on the difference between mean show that the two mean values are equal, therefore this means that the population mean values are equal and that men and women are equally intelligent. Some problems with this study is that the sample size used is relatively small, however the T test method is the most appropriate method in determining the mean difference between men and female IQ score mean values given that there are only two categories.
