System Safety in Risk Management

Introduction

System safety is a theory that requires that a risk management strategy be founded on the scientific evaluation, identification of risks and applying the remedies by use of a system based approach. This ideology is slightly different from the traditional approaches which are entirely dependent control of the conditions based on results of accidents as they are either relying on epidemiology studies or accidents due to investigation of personal accidents in the past.

System Safety

The Concept

The system safety concept is very beneficial in expressing the sufficiency of technology when complexities are faced with the probability risk analyses. The fundamental principle behind this is synergy- one full or whole thing is much greater that the sum of the parts. System based model in providing safety requires that the applications of scientific, managerial and technical skills be applied to the identification of the risks and hazardous objects, eliminate, control, or manage them as well. And this has to be doe throughout the lifecycle of that particular system product, activity, program of project. Hozop is a very critical technology that is currently available and is being used extensively for the identification of hazards (Wasson 2006)

Cost Management and Acquisition Risk

By making sure that all the systems and subsystems as well as their interfaces are operating efficiently, without succumbing to failures or putting the safety or health of operators at risk, the maintainers, and the system mission, a lot of life is protected. However this is a very big challenge especially with e cost ands the training that has to be made for the employee to be conversant with such systems. Several setbacks are evident like the cost, risk of loss of life, if these risks are not identified and removed early enough. The essence of developing the system safety is to manage risks, alleviate hazards and avert failures that may arise from the use of certain machinery (Wasson 2006)

The system safety is a widely accepted means of identification of potential hazards in the prices of design and preventing hazards by tackling and eliminating the root causes. This approach proactively identifies risks intrinsic in a process, makes a review of the operations of the system for any possibility of failing and offers a system engineering services and principles approach to tracking and resolving the potential hazards. The entire system is studied and the interfaces under all probable conditions of operating and identifyimng then possible hazards. As requirement of safety, its advised that the system safety be an integral part of the system manufacturing or designing process. Though its intended that system safety be performed throughout the phases of design, its still not the standards measure of compliances with the regulations when manufacturing of designing has been completed. But on some occasions, the system safety has been very useful in making the effort to eliminate or reduce the possible hazards that could have been overlooked by system designers of improperly accepted (Wasson

2006).

Conclusion

Safety should never be takes lightly as in just like add on to the process of acquiring. The most important means of ensuring that the system is safe is to and to be able to manage its financial risk is to integrate health and safety demand at the initial stages of design or acquisition process. Investing in safety at early stages will ensure that the machines are intrinsically safe and with minimum operating safety demands.
