It’s “informaniac” (though its usually pronounced inFERmaniac, so the confusion is understandable). What it is is somebody who’s obsessed with infomation and being informed. These are the people that check 16 news sites every 15 minutes to be sure they’re kept up to date.

Actually I think it’s INFOMANIAC 🙂
If this is the word you’re looking for, it means as it implies ‘a maniac for information’, or someone who’s crazy to acquire knowledge.
