What grammar/spelling mistake irritates you the most?

I’ve noticed an increase recently of grammar and spelling errors in things I have read. For example, they’re, there, and their; affect, effect; then, than, etc. What do you think is the worst?

I personally hate “loose” for “lose” and using ‘s for plural.

Punctuation used incorrectly is one of my pet peeves, but run on sentences have to be the worst! I hate reading one long sentence with 50 commas. Errors like that give me headaches.

No, by no potential, as English isn’t my mom tongue & none different than one knowledgeable in Britain can assure of cent according to cent maximum suitable use of grammar & compositions in English. Y/A is in English, so, we could write issues in that via attempting superb to make one comprehend the precise meaning, not via strictly following grammar & composition. in any different case, removing the time ingesting articles like a , and, the; use of short varieties of words, use of digits & words like wanna, gonna, b coz, b/c, ppl, btw, wrt, abt,… and so on too should not be there. oblique speeches describing some thing interior the previous stressful is so terrible, LEAST handy & ridiculous too, remarkable to an hassle-free man or woman. this is d maximum crooked way of defining English grammar. We use the way of arising ppl stick to wisely & needless to say somewhat of strictly going via grammar. countless the ppl write wrongly in passive voice in long sentences b/c English grammar gadget for that’s amazingly defective & complicated. Our objective is to respond for supplying know-how, not ridiculing, taunting, insulting, humiliating & stressful d needy questioner via speaking abt spelling, grammar, composition & punctuations, not being our business enterprise as reformers. I the two appreciate all b coz maximum of them at the instant are not English audio gadget/purchasers 2. via d way, grammar & voice gadget of English language is amazingly terrible, clumsy, complicated & often absurd too. English language isn’t d language of God. Why could any1 waste existence in gaining knowledge of dat totally ? There are people habutaul making funs of each and every thing of others. Y/A has maximum humorous ppl as contributors. A language is a MEDIUM OF verbal exchange, grammar is secondary.

I can’t stand run on sentences. I’ve seen entire posts on this site, 4 paragraphs long, with no periods or commas. I always get a headache reading them.

People who use apostrophe before an “s” when it is plural, not possessive. I see that often, even on signs! It is such an easy rule to understand. That really bugs me.

What bugs me the most is when people use the apostrophe incorrectly.

Can’t stand it when I see ‘s used where the plural is intended.

Not sure if this fits into your question but what really irritates me is those who say ” I seen him . . . ” or even worse those that pronounce “ask” as “axe” as in “Axe me a question. Why is speaking properly so difficult for some people.?

They’re, there, and their bothers me. But the most annoying thing is missing punctuation.

The worst spelling goes to they’re, their, and there…or your and you’re..

One that kills me is when people use I instead of me to sound smart:

“This is a picture of Jenny and I.”

No,no! It is a picture of Jenny and me…one wouldn’t say “this is a picture of I.”

The mistreatment of I irks me to no end!
