Siam is an old name of Thailand. Called by chinese, siam means tanned people living in the area of what now is Thailand.

Very complete answer above… Just want to add that the reason conjoined twins used to be called Siamese twins because of the famous, original “Siamese twins” from the 1800s, Chang and Eng, who were from Siam (but were ethnically Chinese.)
