Will i get into a ivyleague if i’m not in all ap (advance placement) classes?

i’m only in tenth grade, but im quite worried because i’d love to get into an ivyleague school. I understand that not just ivyleague schools can be gret too, but i still have my heart set on it. But i’m not sure if that will ever happen because i’m not in ap classes. I wish i could change that but in 6th1 grade and on, they just throw you into a level they think is prudent and your stuck there. I also never got good grades until now, it’s like i suddenly really care about it a lot, or i just grew up. I promised myself to get straight As and move up to the honor versions of my classes by the end of the semester and take SAT prep classes in the future. I have interest in photography, journalism, and astronomy. I also take tennis and plan to start volunteering in my area. Do i have a chance?

I know its for parents but it will give you the basics.

As it states getting into an ivy league school is a life long process.

ALSO tips that I have:

1) take advanced courses

2) do your best in every course aka maintain a high GPA

3) get involved in everything at your school, from sports to clubs, also becoming officers

4) NHS is good for a college application

5) get help for the entrance essay

6) references from teachers are also good to send with an application

7)therefore befriend your teachers

8) ACT and SAT scores the higher the better

It’s good that you’re setting goals and looking to get better. That’s a great attitude for success. Study hard and do your best. There’s no specific requirements to get into an Ivyleague school, but if you have harder (AP/PreAP) classes, it’s a plus. It shows that you are ready for upper level work and that you like to be challenged. Getting straight A’s is another plus. Taking SAT prep is a good idea. SAT is very important in the admissions process, however your grades & classes that you take throughout high school are more important because it measures your consistency over a period of time. Volunteer. It looks great on your application. Maybe volunteer in an area that you’re planning to pursue later on so you can get some experience. If you work hard, I like your chances.

here’s what colleges want these days: a “one-sider”–as in NOT well-rounded. pick one thing you’re good at and become amazing at it. like journalism…if you pick that, write for your school paper, your town paper, apply for awards, go to summer programs…if you show that you have a passion and really play that up–but also show that you’re involved in other things (but not AS involved)…then you’ll have a better chance.

also..take at least 1 AP. you can’t get into an ivy and be in all low-level classes.

also, just to be safe…think about ivy equivalents…like amherst or williams.
