Which is a better school? USC or UCLA?

UCLA has always been a prestigious school. USC’s academic rep fluctuates. Right now, it’s right up there with UCLA. Back when I was applying to college, it was about the same or lower than UC Santa Barbara.
However, USC has always had a fanatical alumni. Even in off years, that may balance things out.

On the USNews and World Report list of the top 100 colleges, USC is #27 and UCLA is #26. So in terms of overall prestige they are very close.
These rankings get thrown around in the news and by universities a lot, but don’t put too much stock in them. I would find out how strong each university is in the particular fields you are interested in pursuing.
