The order of difficulty in getting accepted is as you listed…Stanford, Cal, UCLA, UCSD. A 3.8 GPA is pretty good but it may be a bit low for Stanford or Cal. If you have a great SAT and extracurriculars you may have a shot at Cal and below. Stanford is a stretch, comes top 10 in rankings every year. These 4 schools are all prestigious and excellent schools so going to either one of these won’t hurt you. Good luck!

Despite what MBA Seeker says, Stanford is easily the hardest school to get into out of that list.

The others are all UCs. It’s pretty simple to get into those. If you have the requisite numbers, you’ll get in. Especially if you’re a CA resident. They’re set up to take CA residents, so they’re not quite so picky. Same with CC transfers. They were set up to take students transferring from CCs, so they give priority to them versus transfers from 4yr schools.

Stanford, like a lot of the other top privates, wasn’t set up as a catchall for the local population. As such, it can be pickier about who they take. So, not only do you need top grades and test scores, you have to also distinguish yourself with amazing extracurricular activites, gushing letters of rec, and an impressive essay.

You’ll be hard pressed to find a person admitted into Stanford who also didn’t get into the UCs. Conversely, you’ll find many people who got into all the UCs but could not get into Stanford.

The good news is that Berkeley and UCLA, and even UCSD to some extent, are so prestigious on a national level (worldwide for Berk and UCLA), that you’re not gonna be hurt too much by going there instead of Stanford.

Out of the four, Stanford is the hardest to get into, followed by Berkeley, UCLA, and then UCSD.

Your GPA is not the only thing that will get you into Stanford. You need to take advanced honors and AP courses, get high SAT and SAT II scores, participate in valuable extracurricular activities especially those that show your leadership abilities, and get good letters of recommendation. Good luck!

i would have to say that stanford is most likely the one that is hardest to get admitted into because of its high standards and ivy league school are always way more selective

i think berkeley would be the next hardest to get into

then ucla and i think the least selective on to get admission to out of the 4 schools would be ucsd.

hope that helped

they’re all up there. UCSD is the easiest of the four to get into. I got applied to UCLA and CAL and UCSD and only got UCSD.

make sure you have a high SAT score. but more importantly have a lot of extra curricular activities and such.

Stanford has the highest requirements outside the Ivy League.

Unless you have Ultra Liberal views on the world I’d pass on Berkeley.

Standford would have to be the hardest. The order you listed them in are the the levels of difficulty to get into. Each school is great.

Good Luck! =]

The order you listed is from hardest to easiest. Sorry, but you don’t have a chance of getting into Stanford.

When you are talking about top tier schools such as Standford, Berkeley and UCLA, you really can’t differentiate them. I guess depending on what major you are going for, they are equaly difficult to get into. You will be alright if you graduate from any of these schools.
