Where should I go to college, Iowa State or Iowa?

I am intending to major in biomedical or chemical engineering. And am having trouble deciding between the two.

Iowa State has a top 20 engineering school, Iowa does not. If you were going into biomedical to be a doctor then I would say Iowa since the medical school there but since Iowa State is a technology and science school I would recommend ISU if you are not going to be a doctor but want to be in the medical field. I know several students who have come to ISU for both of those and before they were juniors had job offers for after their graduation.

Many biomedical and engineering firms come to ISU just for our students. and ISU engineering career fair is the largest indoor one in the country with over 400 employeers coming.

I can tell you that, from a distance, U of Iowa has more academic clout. But there’s no doubt that they are both good, and large, schools.

A friend and former coworker of mine changed careers and went to medical school at UIowa. She thought it was great and liked it a lot.

Have you visited both campuses? If you can’t decide on any other basis, go with the one whose campus you like the best. Four years is a long time; might as well be at a place where you like how it looks.

as much as I hate to say this, Iowa State does have a wonderful engineering program. My best friend is in the program and from what I know its fantastic. I would suggest looking into that. And this is coming from a born and raised Hawkeye, so you know its the truth.

I would suggest getting out of Iowa if you want a good education.
