What would be my Major??

My major is currently Social Work but I think I need to change it. I want to represent abused and neglected children in court and through the legal process. Would this be Law or Social Work or something different? Most advocate positions are volunteer. Help!

It sounds like you would be interested in being a guardian ad litem. Now there are two parts to this, the social work at the law. Many agencies exist that combine the two (that is they have lawyers and social workers). Talk to your director of field education about doing your internship for your social work degree (it would appear you are doing a BSW) in an agency that does this. As you look to go on for your MSW I would look at one of the joint MSW/JD programs – Most large schools have this as an option (University of Denver, Buffalo, Saracuyse, Albany are some that I know of, but there are many. This would really put you in the best position to work as an advocate for kids.

Pre-Law with a Social work major. Pre-Law is not a major it is the course work required to get into law school.

Majoring in Social Work would probably also help when it comes to getting into law school because most persons applying to law school major in business, criminal justice, economics, or politics. You would stand out.

Check out Barry University’s School of Law in Orlando, Florida. They have a program dedicated to helping neglected children. In fact, you start representing them in law school. If that’s your interest and you can do well on the LSAT, they have many scholarships available.

Sounds well. if Miz and Morrison free the titles, possibly they will attempt to pull an Evolution.. shall we see, Edge would be WHC, Major Bros would be Tag, if the womens divison was once go branded Vickie would SOMEHOW win with the aid of them, then in the event that they introduced again the crusiorweight department get anybody like noble or any one, and feature them win it. Pretty cool if you happen to question me.

Most state agencies hire people with degrees in sociology for social worker positions. You might look at a major in sociology with a minor in criminal justice.
